Rising from the dust of what was labeled by a review journal reporter as a dilapidated, low income area is a new beacon of light – Amayah’s Final Dimension Beauty Supply, 921 W. Owens Avenue, Suite 130.

Nearly a year ago, the area was deemed a 3.5-square-mile area of ‘weed-strewn streets and debris-littered dirt lots’ – a place repeatedly rejected by investors and developers seeking new territory. However, after a developer of the $22-million Edmond Town Center strip mall locked in the Buy Low supermarket chain as an anchor tenant, things have started to look up.

Armed with an ‘if-you-build-it-they-will-come-attitude,’ Beauty Supply owners Terri Brooks and Mark Bilbro have committed themselves to removing the stigma attached to the area by adding an upscale, beauty supply and salon and spa combination to the equation.

“We’re trying to bring something here that they don’t have,” said Brooks, a part of the husband and wife team. “We believe people don’t mind spending money they just want it to be nice.”
Celebrating their official grand opening December 5th, the duo promises to provide only the best in beauty supplies and services for area residents.

Amayah’s Final Dimension, named after their 5-year-old granddaughter, will feature fifteen operators offering services that include weaving, colors, perms for all nationalities, spa treatments and a host of services from experienced technicians throughout the city.

Moreover, for those kitchen beauticians, Amayah’s offers a wide variety of personal and professional supplies including curling irons, hair products and accessories, synthetic and human hair, and the top name brands of beauty staples.
The elegantly decorated store also carries unique all occasion boxes, authentic African attire, spiritual keepsakes, clothes, and gifts for the person who has everything.

The sophomore business for the team, Amayah’s II brings more than just unique one-of-a-kind merchandise. “We wanted to bring this business here because we wanted to give back to the community,” Brooks said.
The couple has teamed up with the Urban League and other community organizations to provide jobs to local residents. “We believe we need to educate people about being a business owner while we are doing business here,” she said. “Just being able to teach them is enough for me; they don’t have to buy anything.”

Brooks also has plans to offer free services to women experiencing obstacles in life. “I am so glad God placed us in this area,” she said. “I want to eventually work with women’s shelters. I want them to be able to come here and get a free service.
While the pair has more plans to build - making room for future operators, Bilbro is excited about the expansion of the newly opened business. “We want people to be able to come in and relax,” he said, pointing out future plans to create an opening between the store and the spa and salon.

Whether you visit Amayah’s at 5001 E. Bonanza Road, Suite 154 or the brand new shop at 921 E. Owens Avenue, Suite 130 in the Edmonds Town Center, you are sure find something other than an abandoned building or a debris-littered lot. Instead, you’ll discover a place to meet all your beauty needs.
